To be aware .
It’s actually a joy to just realise that this is the moment when you really start to experience those little moments in life that allow you to start gathering sense and that in a way allows you to create the next moment that shall be more resourceful. Those are just brackets of resources that are around us. And how can we kind of pull that in in that moment that allows us to create the next moment. Is it possible to bring this mindfulness or as I would call it, heartfulness I used to bring this concept of understanding that the centering always begins with the heart. And I moved away from understanding the mind because mind it deviates into a space that is an abstract and I would like to bring that closer to my body which is where I can find this stillness in myself and I can find this centering happens in the heart for me. If I go back to the science of embryology, when the fetus is the embryo, when it is very little, when it is forming, there are creative forces when they are being formed. The heart is the first thing that is seen as the center pole when you do the scan. It is around the heart that the spine and brain actually develop. Then the brain and spinal cord starts to take a shape, where it uncurls itself and then the heart forms itself in the center. In my practice of BCST, these creative forces are what are available for us for healing throughout our lives. So the first few forces that are seen during embryonic development is available to us throughout our lives. Our mind and spirit are actually having wings all the time. That is the spirit of it, that is the beauty of it. This is why you need to have that vastness to fly and to have things without any limit to it. This is why they say everything is possible on this earth. At the same time it needs to have it boundaries, that is when it starts to take form. When our mind is on those wings all the time in the sky, how we become more aware of this point where there is help. The simplest way to do that is to recognize where my body is. So, if I bring my mind to my body then I am here. Else I am in that vastness where the point is limitless as the universe is limitless. My mind can be as expansive as that. So, to bring that point of vastness to manifestation can only happen when we think of the doability of it. So how can I make it happen? Otherwise its extremely overwhelming as there are no boundaries. I need to bring that boundary which is when it comes alive to me in front of me. So for me the closest thing that works is to recognize where are my boundaries. So you can close or leave your eyes open but recognize how to bring that awareness to your hands and legs. Do I feel my hands that are close to my body? where are they placed? Are they on my lap? Are the palms open? And now my legs. Are they folded in a cross or are you sitting in a chair? Just recognizing this little moment to know where my body is without necessarily changing it starts to bring in a certain kind of awareness that moves from the body to the breathe. Now bring the awareness from inside to outside and the you may open your eyes. And there you go. So just that connection and the way I look at you now and how I feel about myself feels different. It really does not take that long if you realise it. Just a few seconds of your day. Even when you go to the kitchen, you will find a spoon, that has a concave and convex side right? It is a simple tool you may use at home. It connects with different points on your body and will help even your children like the ones who have gone flat on the floor and they are screaming and shouting. Meaning they are not in their bodies. This tool can be used on anyone no matter the age group. So what you do is, run the rounded part of your spoon on the back of your palms or spine or the soles of your feet. You shall feel something moving within. What we are doing is grounding ourselves from charging. This charging which has built up due to the overwhelming emotions that needs to be earthed just like too much electricity has to have an earthing and that is exactly what we need to do with our bodies as well. Because we are constantly having electrical signals passing through our bodies. So when we are emotional we are buzzing. Incase you forget your spoon, you can use your palms. This is in context with a little punishment we used to get in school. When you cross your hands and hold onto your lobes, you stimulate the prefrontal cortex and brings the body into more awareness and bring coordination to the right and left brain into regulation. It’s an amazing tool. It is used in a way as an occupational practice even for children who have special needs who are on the autism spectrum or who have ADHD deficit or even children who are high on energy.
2) Interventions
When you look at the aspect of birth and then moving onto breastfeeding, it is a very natural process. Why is it a natural process because it is a part of the human system progress in life. So like every milestone in life, this is also a milestone in a woman’s life. Therefore it is right when we say that the breastfeeding is a very natural aspect of life. This is a nice thing that people believe it that it is natural. However we have moved away from what is natural for a long time now. We are forgetting that birth is not the same that it used to be before. Earlier birth used to be at home, it was not institutionalized, it was not in a hospital set up but we have moved away from a home birth which we used to do before and moved into a institution where we have to abide by the functioning of the hospital
That is not something we can intervene in because it is a system, it is an establishment and it has to run in a certain way and therefore many of those sequences becomes a protocol that needs to be followed. And that is very natural for an establishment that it does not follow any other way and that it is treated as an establishment. But when we are bringing the natural milestone of the woman which is the reproductive period of the mother into a hospital setup, we forget that we are combining an establishment with the natural process. That means some steps have to change to accommodate that process. But that has not happened over this period that is why we feel that this is starting to become a difficult process for mothers to do what was absolutely natural for them because of many interventions that have come through the sequence and the sequence has been broken. So when that happens you are going to need some additional support. Now let me give you an example. When you have a fracture, you put a cast on the hand or the leg whichever is fractured right? Now when we put a cast we know the natural setting of the bone is going to happen over 6-8 weeks, sometimes 3 months which is the normal healing process. During that time we are putting that leg or hand in a cast so that there is no movement. So when there is no movement there is no repeat injury happening to that area, until the bone sets. Now after that we send the patient off for physiotherapy, now why do we do that is because the cast has been put but the muscles are not working the same any more. The same way it would be if there is constant movement of your hand or leg. Now that is called continuity of care. So when we intervene there has to be a continuity of care. Now here what happens is there is an intervention happening at birth for whatever reason there may be medical reason for why we are intervening. Sometimes we may be inducing the birth, sometimes we need to use epidural which is pain medication, sometimes we are putting a fetal monitor on the mother so that they are not able to move the way her body is making her move around. So all these things are becoming more established as part of the protocol. Sometimes you may see the use of a forceps or a vacuum or sometimes an emergency C-section or elective C-section, all these are medical interventions. Now they may be a need for that. This is not debate for that. The debate is when we have used medical intervention, how is it cared for after? That is the missing link. Therefore, because the sequence is broken, we need the medical intervention added to the medical intervention such as breastfeeding support, lactation support which is needed today due to the broken sequence.
